Crestline Capital:  Subsidiary of Barcelo

If you can't keep it in your portfolio, then keep it in the family. Crestline Capital, a spinoff of hotel owner Host Marriott, leases or subleases nearly 100 properties from its former parent, and hires Marriott International (sister of Host Marriott) to manage them. Nepotism, however, is not enough: the company has its own management subsidiary, Crestline Hotels & Resorts, that manages about 40 hotels and conference centers. Its hotel brands include Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, and Residence Inn. Crestline sold its 10 company-owned hotels and 31 senior living communities. The latter, which were located in 13 states, were managed by Marriott Senior Living Services (a unit of Marriott International). In 2002 Spanish family-owned hospitality group Barcelo bought the company and renamed it Barcelo Crestline Corporation
